I enjoy meditating in its many forms. I have studying it for years. I find it relaxes me, helps me to focus, and allows me to release illusions. I have a daily spiritual practice and meditation is a part of it. There is so much power in stillness and observing. There is so much strength in knowing how to allow and how to let go. Why Have a Daily Spiritual Practice?

Having a daily spiritual practice helps us to

- stay grounded
- stay in peace
- be mindful
- be aware of ourselves

- stay connected to our divine source and the truth of our experiences.

- quiet the mind
- stay present
- hold more light

Various Kinds of Spiritual Practice

Use what feels good to you.
Use as many as you want.

Some practices we can use daily are:


1. prayerwork
2. yoga
3. meditation
4. altarwork
5. toning
6. singing
7. chanting
8. visualizations
9. stretching
10. walking
11. running
12. or anything that brings your peace and inner quiet

How long should your spiritual pratice be?

Your daily spiritual practice can be 5 minutes to 1 hour long.
It can use sound, movement, stillness, and whatever else feels right to you.
It can be done in the morning or in the evening but doing it in the morning helps you to prepare better for the day ahead.
Your daily spiritual practice can be done alone, with a partner or in a group of like-minded people.

Be Comfortable

When starting your meditating,
choose a comfy spot.
You can sit in a chair, on the floor, walk, stand, indoors or outdoors.
Make sure it feels good and you can sit for an extended period of time.

Quiet, Please.

Make sure when you are meditating,
you choose a place and a time of quiet.
No distractions or talking or conversations.
Turn of the tech stuff (i.e. phones, laptops, etc)

Calming Fragrances

Depending on what you like
You may choose to have fragrances in the air while you meditate.
Burn incense or your favorite herbs like sage or sweetgrass to calm your senses and clear the room.

Wear Loose clothes

When sitting to meditate,
it is best to wear clothing that is comfy and layered.
As you meditate, the body temperature drops and you may get cool,
so bring a sweater to your practice.

In Solitude

You may choose to meditate by yourself
You can focus more on your own center
and there may be less distractions

In A Group

You may choose to meditate in a group
it can help you to be in spiritual community
and have more support
it can help strength your relationships if you meditate with those you love
like family, friends, children, or partner/spouse/boy or girlfriend

Indoors

Meditating indoors can be great because you have a controlled environment
and it can be familiar

Outdoors

Meditating outdorrs can be great because there is fresh air, nature sounds around, and the big open sky above you
it can feel wonderful

Focus on Prayer Beads

One form of meditation focuses on prayer beads
and they are held in the hand during the practice
and counted over and over again

Focus on the breath

One form of meditating focuses on the breathe
watch you stomach as it rises and falls
remember to breathe slowly

Focus on Numbers

One form of mediating focuses on numbers and counting
You can count in your head
and let go of any random thoughts that come up

Focus on Chanting

One form of meditation focuses on chanting
recite a chant in your head
or quietly to yourself
and release any random thoughts that come up

when thoughts or distractions come up
release them and come back to the quiet

Focus on Walking

One form of meditating focuses on walking
You walk and concentrate on your connection to your body
and the feeling of the earth below you
It can be a very grounding and centering experience

Ways Your Meditation Can Be Done

Your meditation can be done while


Positions
- sitting (cross legged, half-lotus, kneeling)
- sitting in  a chair
- sitting on a cushion
- standing
- walking
- while doing a task mindfully


Eyes
- open
- closed
- slightly open


Hands
- on lap
- folded
- in a mudra
- facing upward
- in prayer in front of the heart

Becoming a better human being

1. Use active prayer & clear intention to create your reality
2. Drink lots of water
3. Create a daily spiritual practice
4. Get daily exercise & eat well
5. Get monthly healing arts treatments/Alternative Medicine
6. Create an altar in your home and work space
7. Get clear about your dreamtime
8. Study the universal laws
9. Be pro-active in your shadow work (dealing with your ego)
10. Strive to become more of your authentic self
